My family and I are new to the Wii system. I have to confess, I have resisted getting a gaming system for a long time. I imagined my husband and I sitting slack-jawed on the couch, joystick in hand, pretending to be shooting zombies or flying airplanes. I still had a vision of the video games that were popular when I was in high school - the ones that sucked you into a sedentary position for several hours as you ignore your loved ones.
I must say, I have been pleasantly surprised by the Wii. It has afforded us, dare I say, with actual quality family time. Just Dance 2 is a perfect example of the best of Wii. It is an active and fun game that gets you off the couch and engaged with your friends or family.
Just Dance 2 is esentially a dancing game. You hold the controls and try to mimic the steps that the dancers are doing onscreen. There are over 40 songs that you can choose from, and most of them are very recognizable dance songs. (My favorites are Hey Ya and Jungle Boogie). It is a workout in disguise - I am often so intent on getting the moves down (and beating my husband) that I don't realize how much I'm breaking a sweat until I take a break. My kids can play along, and I don't think I have ever laughed so hard as I have watching my husband attempt Proud Mary.
I am dying to have a Just Dance 2 party with some friends. I think it will be more fun than karoake.
If you are looking for a family gift that will keep on giving well after the season, I definitely recommend Just Dance 2.
