With 6 kids, I am particular about the kind and amount of toys that come into our house.. because we are constantly toy overwhelmed, anyway. I like toys that can be used by multiple age groups. Toys that can be used by more than one person at a time. Toys that are for imaginative play (not video games). Toys that are educational. Toys that I can add on to in the future. And each kid only gets 3 gifts for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThe number one thing I look for when shopping for kids' toys is: will it hold their interest for more than a day? I like the toys that I've gotten my money's worth out of, that the kids play with consistently.

The number one thing I look for is quality and safety. I would be horrified if I was to get one of my grandbabies a toy that hurt them or made so poorly that they were at risk. With so many recalls lately it seems to get harder and harder to find safe toys. Thats where Plan Toys comes in as they are excellent and this is such a fantastic giveaway! Thank you!

I try to get toys that have more than one use, creative play toys are great, and toys that can be built and rebuilt in a variety of ways. Of course educational toys are at the top of my list too.
ReplyDeleteI look for toys that are durable and safe-plus they have to look fun too ;-)

What I look for is definitely different than what my children look for. Sometimes I look for the simple answer of no added noise, but rather I look for the toy being "open ended" so that it can be played with in a variety of ways.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower of your blog...
ReplyDeleteI also look for toys to be rather indistructable as my boys really like to play rough. So, things with too many small parts are pretty much out for right now.
you are on my blogroll...
ReplyDeleteI also look for the toys to hold true to our "moral" values, no killing, hurting or otherwise distructive type of toys.
Definitely the quality and the uniqueness of toys - there are so many that are junky plastic that do the same thing as all the rest of the toys out there. I want something that will last and is cool... like this dollhouse!

We love non-toys at our house. Our current two faves include a box the size of a laundry basket (depending on the day it's a rocket ship, airplane or fishing boat) and a toilet paper roll (periscope or Captain Hook's hook). Also, anything remotely stick-like becomes a great fishing pole.
ReplyDeleteI look for toys that stand up to my 2 year old grandson who is always taking the toys apart to see what makes them work. My granddaughter (age 4) never seems to keep her dolls for long with him around.
ReplyDeleteBshaw75015@aol.com
The features I look for most of course is safety. I also look for well made toys that will last. I try to stay away from plastic toys that crack easily. Thanks so much.

I look for toys that run on imagination rather than batteries. Batteries wear out, the imagination never does.
ReplyDeletetraymona[at]aol.com
I have a toddler, and there are lots of things that I look for in toys, like their lasting qualities (I usually go for wood or metal toys), if they have room for imagination rather than just doing it all for the child, keeping their interest, and something that will last. I'd love to pass on my son's wooden toys to his children.

I look for items that my daughter will play with for more than a few weeks. Something that will catch her attention, that is very entertaining, and something she can play with friends to keep them occupied as well. I think I pretty much have figured out what she plays with most of the time, but sometimes I can be wrong. Thanks for the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteI look for safety and durability, then I want maximum play value with minimum toys. I think if kids are having fun with a toy they are probably gaining new skills, as well.
ReplyDeleteI look for toys that are going to be durable--if a child can break them easily, they're not very safe, either!!
ReplyDeleteI look for good, solid construction. I tend to look for wooden toys, items with great durability, and items that allow for my daughter to use her imagination. This dollhouse definitely fits the bill!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this opportunity!

I always try to find toys which are safe and also age appropriate. I am pretty much like all parents and with the economy I want to find toys which I know my children will love to play with. It mind sound kind of silly, but my children love toys which are simple as they become toys they cherish for years.
