This week we have a bounty of "essentials" for the mama of a wee one.

Leave it to a seasoned Mama to develop one of the best diaper bags we have ever seen. Jenna, a mom, took all the features she liked about her 6 diaper bags, and combined them into one bag that is stylish, extremely functional and a breath of fresh air for us mamas who know that when we are out at a park or other outing with our kids, we really want to be able to find what we need in our bag (that is why it is in there, right?) quickly and without having to set it on the floor to sort its entire contents (how many times have you done that?). The Sweet Baby Creations "mommy bag" is "the ultimate diaper bag to keep you organized and in style".
And when you don’t need a diaper bag anymore, it’s the perfect large purse, beach bag, book bag for students, or craft tote for those ladies craft nights.

I'd have to say I am only about a 5. We did a lot of "no" and teaching the older two what was off limits and they actually adhered to it. We'll see how it goes with the little bun in the over we've got cooking now...
ReplyDeleteWe do definitely use outlet covers and baby gates.
CUTE giveaways!!!
i can't say i'm great at it so maybe a 4 or 5. since we're trying to have another baby we're trying to step it up
ReplyDeleteI'm probably a 5 as well...a baby gate, outlet covers, medicines in high cabinets and cleaners out of reach as well as a lock on the pantry when my son was old enough to sneak in there...(although he has since learned how to work his way around it).
ReplyDeleteLove that bag...amazing giveaway!
I'd say I am a 6. Gates, covers for outlets, latches for cabinets, etc. Cute bag and great extras. I love more the BPA stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'd say I'm about a 4...but with my second baby now walking, I can see that really ought to change. We of course have the outlet covers, and dangerous items out of harms way but...
ReplyDeletemy biggest beef is with our bookshelves. My husband is a reader and loves books. We have 4 large bookshelves that my littlest one can't keep her hands off. We are soon going to buy doors to cover all of the bookshelves (excluding the kids own shelf of course) cause I am sick of trying to save his books from her sticky little hands. :)
I am about a 6 - take the locks off the trunks, safety outlets, vcr outlet (yes we still have one), toilet seat lock, cabinet locks, table corners, make sure everything is out of reach...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win this.
Well, I'm trying to win this for my sister, who has a 2-year-old and a 4 month-old. She is probably a 6 or 7 with baby-proofing, but now the older one likes to climb and jump off things...how do you proof for that?? Rubber floors? :)
ReplyDeleteI would say Im about an 6-7 right now, my little man is going to start crawling soon thugh, so Im sure it will jump to about a 8-9! Great giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteIm subscribed!
ReplyDeleteI have a one month old and I have to admit I haven't yet baby-proofed a thing. I think that makes me a zero. That makes today's post all the more helpful for me, thank you!
ReplyDeleteBlog List: www.babyvalone.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHard to say so far...maybe a 5? My little guy isn't crawling yet, although he will be soon. Most of our outlets are behind furniture, so we only had to put a couple of those thingies in. I have purchased latches for the cabinets, a knob thing for the bathroom door, and bumpers for the coffee table. Otherwise, outside of the chemicals, I think it's good to try to teach them what they can touch and what they can't. We'll see what happens when he actually starts moving. :)
ReplyDeletewe need to baby proof in about four months here, and I have already started buying baby proof stuff. right now im a 5 but I will be a ten soon!
ReplyDeletejennifer.lleras@gmail.com
I would have to say that I am a 5 I don't go over board a baby has to learn things on their own. But I do have outlet covers but hey when I was little my parents didn't even had them.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably a five. All of our outlets are covered...but I haven't put up any breakables. We just did a lot of teaching of what is okay to play with and what's not. For the most part it's worked.
ReplyDeleteI would say, I am about 4..I never put safety gate or closed the plugs. I am careful only in the car seats. Kids fall down and learn on their own, that is my belief.thanks
ReplyDeleteherry123_us@live.com
i'm about an 8. we have a very small living space so there's not that much to do. i do have a few pieces of furniture strapped to the wall but that didn't happen till baby #2 came along...the climber! i've got outlets covered, cabinets/appliances locked and foam corners on our desk.
ReplyDeletei'm on the mailing list
ReplyDeletei'm in the facebook network
ReplyDeleteI'm probably about a 5. I did use a carseat & had stair gates in place, but I think teaching "no" & don't touch are important.
ReplyDeleteoh yeah Im a proofer all right, too much stuff around for the little ones to get into. I'd say at least a 7
ReplyDeletei would say im probably about a 2.horrible i know...
ReplyDeleteI'm a 2. After four kids, I know how to teach them NO.
ReplyDeleteI would say right now I am about a 4. My daughter is only 5 months so we are not at the stage where she can get to stuff yet. I will be probably a 7 when she get's mobile.
ReplyDeletewww.lifeofjewels.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteok I have the plugs, the cabinet locks, everything up high...I would say I am a 9..there are things out but basically overly protective
ReplyDeletea 6.
ReplyDeleteI have the basics: gate, cabinet lock and outlet covers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveways! Cute bag!
My first baby isn't even due for a month and I'd say I'm a 10. He could come out walking and he'll already be in a safe environment. My husband thinks I'm going overboard, but I can't help it!
ReplyDeleteJoined facebook network too.
ReplyDelete{r}
I'm middle of the road - a 5 or 6. Thanks for the giveaway~ The bag is great.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! I would have to say I'm probably a 4-5 as with many others. We have outlet covers, cabinet locks, dangerous items out of reach, as well as the baby gate that we use. With our little one walking all around though, I'm sure that number will go up very soon!
ReplyDeletejenna@momsbalancingact.com
Probably a 3-not sure
ReplyDeleteI did 1 digg. I also tried to do 1 stumble but am not sure if it worked or not
ReplyDeletei'm probably in the 6 range i hope i'm a little above average
ReplyDeleteI also have added your blog to my blog roll over at www.momsbalancingact.com
ReplyDeleteJenna
I was about a 5 when my son was a baby -- but only because he was pretty easy that way. He was never one to try to put things in his mouth or get into stuff (he's making up for that in other ways in the "terrible 3s" -- ha!).
ReplyDeleteI am a grandma and I would have to say I think I am a 5, I have a gate, and outlet covers and try to keep things high and out of reach.
ReplyDeletelgrieser(at)sbcglobal(dot)net
I'm the grandma and I have a baby gate and door/drawer locks ready for when baby comes.
ReplyDeleteI am about a 5.5 :) Pushing 6~
ReplyDeleteI am very concerned about the babies safety but on the other hard, babies have to learn things on their own...the gates the outlet covers, the cabinet blockers, etc.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
I am a zero as our 5 month old isn't crawling yet but my sister's 12 month old came to stay with us last week and I quickly became a 10. Man he's fast!
ReplyDeleteI'm a 9.5 babyproofer. We have a little man who has a hard time with understanding boundries. Every interior door, cabinet, and drawer has a childproof latch. I feel better knowing that I won't see the little guy running down the hall with a meat cleaver saying "Mommy! Looky what I found!"
ReplyDeleteI follow you on facebook

ReplyDeleteI would say I am an eight! But I don't know I am about to be a first time mommy (4 weeks left!!) We are so excited! We have always wanted to be parents and we have read all the books. We have had practice with our younger brothers. I think we are ready! I know our moms think we are over bored with the whole safety thing. They think its funny that we read all the books and that sort of thing. I would say this topic is at the top of our list of important things. We are always wanting to know more!
ReplyDeleteI would say that I'm about a 6. I try to baby proof wherever possible, but in addition, we do teach no too. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteLindsay McCoy:
ReplyDeleteI am a 2 at this point...but I have a 5.5 month old. So that time is near when I will become a 5 or 6. I don't believe I will ever go all the way to a 10. Time will tell.
I follow you on Facebook
ReplyDeleteI am an email subcriber
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck is dig and stumble. I have been trying to figure that out for weeks!
ReplyDeleteProbably a 4... although two flights of stairs definitely get a mom's attention! Thanks for the great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI would say that I am at about a 6. I did just go out and buy new plug covers to replace all the ones that have gone missing since my last "baby" got bigger now that I have another one here. Book shelves are screwed into the wall, although that is due to a near accident with one of my older kids than me being super-safe to start! I have cabinet locks on our cabinets and all cleaning supplies and medication way out of reach, but I am not as good as I probably could be!
ReplyDeleteI would say Im a 4. I really need to step it up. I did good with my first born, and like everything else, haven't done as well with the second.
ReplyDeleteHeather
I'm about a 4-5 right now. My second baby is due in March and I have a feeling I will have to do more baby proofing when she arrives since my toddler has toys everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI would say I am a 9 because I think I am safe but never a 10 because we must always keep our eyes open

I would say I'm an eight in baby proofing.

ReplyDeleteI'd say I'm about a 5. I'm not at that stage just yet, but I will soon be getting a baby gate, outlet covers, and latches for the cupboards and oven.
ReplyDeleteI'm a 3 which is cool for a grandparent.
ReplyDeleteI am about a 6.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win...
I'm about a 7, but am getting lazier and lazier as the months go on and my youngest gets older.
ReplyDeleteI think I am about a 6.5.

On a scale of 1-10, am a 6 baby-proofer
ReplyDeleteI am about a 6 on baby proffer scale. ours is only 6 months so we are getting to that stage very quickly! what a great giveway. I came here from http://inspiredbyjenna.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeletebeccaz79 at hotmail dot com
I think I'm about a 7, I really have to tigheten up because she is crawling, and will be walking really soon. Thanks for the contest.
ReplyDeleteI'd say about a 7! I'm real picky and have to have everything baby proof! I have a 4 month old and he'll be crawling soon so I'm sure it'll get worse! lol
ReplyDeletekristi2bsb@yahoo.com
I am probably an 6. I keep poisons up and use baby gates, but I don't go overboard.
ReplyDeletesmchester at gmail dot com
I'd say I'm a 5. I have outlet covers, baby gates, etc. but could do more. My little boy is learning what no means, that helps. Cute bag-thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletesueellison@hcecwildblue.com
With my first child, I was at least an 11! Everyone made me so paranoid, I might as well covered my baby in bubble wrap! Now, I am not so paranoid, so maybe a 3, with our new baby on the way. We have done nothing so far to child-proof, so this would be great to win to kick-off my ritual! haha!
ReplyDeleteonecheaplady at yahoo dot com
I would say we are a 6 or 7. We have gates and door locks, outlet covers and corner guards. We could do more, but we are pretty good. I know our house drives non baby people crazy, they have the hardest time figuring out how to open the gates and doors LOL
ReplyDeleteI suppose at this point I'm a 1. My baby is only 3 weeks old and basically goes back and forth from the changing table, to my breast, to her crib. I do need to get on the baby-proofing though.
ReplyDeletei'm probably a 5...there's a bunch we have done, but a bunch more that we still should do.
ReplyDeleteelkesten at yahoo dot com
i would sAy I AM A 6.
ReplyDeleteI would say I am an 8. I will try and baby proof a lot of the house to prevent injuries.

ReplyDeleteI am about a seven..mostly locking cabinets where poisonous things are and we had to put a lock on our fridge-our kids would graze all day on whatever if we let them.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS BAG!!!
ReplyDeleteI would say I'm a 6 because there are some more baby proofing things I could do. We have a gate, outlet plugs, latches on the cupboards, coffee tables edges secured, door knob covers and medicines locked away.
ReplyDeleteI am about a 5 - tend to relax a little after the firstborn gets old enough. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets still locked, and outlet covers in place.
ReplyDeleteI am a subscriber.
ReplyDeleteHave your widget on my blog http://justanothernewblog.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteummmmmm...I'm about a 6. We gated everything, so the kiddo can't get into the kitchen or up the stairs, and when we updated the living room, we purchased an oversized ottoman instead of a coffee table, but other than that...
ReplyDeletealready a subscriber...
ReplyDeleteand I'm a Facebook follower.
ReplyDeleteI admit I am probably a 4 or 5. I am pregnant with #3 so I think I have a good idea now what is essential to baby proof and what I can get by with. Some things are a must - outlet covers, baby gates, locks on cleaner cabinets.
ReplyDeleteAlready getting the newletter.
ReplyDeleteand you are so in my blogroll.
ReplyDeletealready a fan on facebook.
ReplyDeleteI'd say I'm about a 6. I have covers over all the outlets and latches on the cabinets. I keep the toilet seats down. I'm sure I' could o more though since you can't be too safe.

Okay, here's the thing. . .I probably started out as a 7 and with each child have lost about 1-2 points! So with the third baby coming, I would say I am a 4 (or atleast that's what I am shooting for!)!!
ReplyDeleteWe are probably a 3 or so. We do have baby gates for the stairs, but our first one is only 6 months old. He is within a few weeks of crawling though, so we are gonna have to step it up real soon! Thanks! thebubbledies(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteStumbled your photo post! bluenude3 Thanks! thebubbledies(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI was about a 4-5 with my older two. I had a baby gate, outlet covers, fridge lock, etc. Thanks for the great prize!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful contest! Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteI'm only about a 4, and should probably be higher!
I'm about a 2. I'm terrible for having stuff everywhere and thinking it's ok. Things will change once our baby is more active!
ReplyDeleteWe are about an 8! We didn't really baby-proof with cabinet locks or anything, but we have everything troublesome out of reach. We also have a gate on the living room and we made that area a totally safe zone where we don't need to say 'no' all the time.
ReplyDeleteI am on the Mama Memo mailing list.....webleane ATyahooDOTcom
ReplyDeleteI have your button on my sidebar...toward the bottom...no particular order.....http://www.my-bloggy-mind.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI would so love to win this great bag and all the loot!!! Great giveaway, thanks so much!
I'd say I'm only a 4. Medicines out of reach and that type of thing, but I'm sure someone who knew what they were doing would look around my house and be horrified at all the "no-no's" they saw!
ReplyDeleteI'd say I'm about a 5... I'm really hoping my older daughter just listens when I say to put her tiny toys out of reach of the baby, though I do have my outlets plugged up and cleaners/medicines way up high.
ReplyDeleteI am probably a 5!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm now a follower on facebook! ;)

I'd give myself an 7 on Baby Proofing. Everyone survived.
ReplyDeleteI would say about a 10 with the first one and an 8 with the second child!
ReplyDeleteI am a 4. Our little girl knows the word "no" really well. Sometimes I see her right next to our candlesticks/holders by the fireplace and she points at them and says "NO" over and over again. I was probably a 8-9 until my little girl turned 9-10 months and she started understanding the word NO.

ReplyDeleteAbout a 7. We have a gate a some cabinet locks, but we resort to keeping door closed. Who know how long that will last.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
hetz-junk(at)hotmail(dot)com
No I'm not a baby proofer. I would say maybe a 3. My son never got into anything. We will see what happens with my one on the way. Maybe with my next one I will be a 10.

ReplyDeleteI'm probably only a 3 or 4. I was always close by to my baby and could monitor their behavior and intervene quickly. But I do think it's a good idea if you can't always watch closely!!
ReplyDeleteI would say 7 out of 10 ~ cabinet door locks, outlet covers, stove lock, baby gates (tough time finding one I liked) ~ all cleaning supplies and medicines in high cabinets.
ReplyDeleteI am about a 6 on the scale in terms of Baby -Proofing our home. I have a 6 month old daughter and 2 other toddlers so we are kind of experienced in keeping our home child-proofed. We have safety latches on the lower kitchen cabinets and all of our electrical outlets are protected. We don't keep a lot of clutter around the house so there is not too much at arms reach that the kids can get into. We always keep the doors locked because that is our biggest concern where we live. Our home is lakefront and we do not want the kids getting outside and playing near the water when we are not there to supervise. The inside of the house is safe, but one never knows the imagination of a child and what they may think of getting into that we cannot anticipate ahead of time! Thank you so much for the opportunity to enter. I would love some "loot" for my baby since we are using hand-me-downs from our 2 other children and could use some updated gear!

I'm about a 4. Since Ty (due March 27th!) will not be walking/crawling for several months, I've not made a huge effort to cover all those plugs... ext. My next goal in baby proofing is the put a door at the doorway at the top of the stairs. I will feel so much better once one is there!
ReplyDeletethanks

I am a 2....I was an 8 with my first...but the third is learning quickly what she is allowed to get into and what she isn't. I do have gates on my stairs and outlet covers, but that is about it! Guess I need to get my tush into gear.
ReplyDeleteIm probably an 8. I think Im pretty cautious about things that may hurt my baby but Im sure I have overlooked a few things.
ReplyDeletetexasgirl(at)rocketmail(dot)com
I would say I am a 3 in the traditional sense. I have had a lot of luck with teaching the kids not to open certain cupboards, etc. I keep medicine and cleaners up high, and we don't have stairs so I don't need the gate.
ReplyDeleteLove this loot!
I would say I'm about a 5. When the grandbabies are over I do have everything out of reach, have outlet covers and close and latch all the doors. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm a subscriber.
ReplyDeleteI'd say about a 5... We never owned a baby gate. We do lock the cleaning product cabinet, and all the outlet covers. But there's so much more we could do! Thanks
ReplyDeletehmahan_0529 @ yahoo dot com
I'd say a good 6. You start at 1 knowing zip go to 10 (bolt everything down! wash everything 10x!-lol) then relax & do your best:)

I'm a zero. (although my house is pretty dog-proof) I have no gates, outlet covers or those crazy drawer locking things. My baby is due in June. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a solid 6 or 7, although when my kids were babies I was closer to a 9!
ReplyDeleteprobally at a 3:( ty 4 the entry:)
ReplyDeleteI am about a 6. thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI'm a 8 when it comes to Baby Proofing. I have a 1 year old & a 3year old who are both very curious.
ReplyDeleteI'm about a 4, my husband is a 100!!! She'd wrap her in bubble wrap until 18 I think. But we found middle ground - outlet covers for sure, one gate, no access to dangerous chemicals and meds (that's just common sense!) and a few other things. And I say NO! a lot during the day. :)
ReplyDeleteThe only baby proofing we did was block the fireplace...maybe I should start covering the outlets.
ReplyDeleteI am on the mailing list.
ReplyDeleteI'd say about an 8. My older kids are bad about leaving little toys around or leaving the covers out of the plug-ins.
ReplyDeletehaven't done much baby proofing i'd say i'm maybe a 2, but really i should daddy proof the place i'm such a klutz
ReplyDeleteI would say with my first I was probably a 7. Then with my next little one I was alot more easy going. Probably a 5.
ReplyDeleteLove the giveaways....
Probably a 5. I watch every single minute! I am so paranoid about safety and all-mild case of OCD. LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm probably a 5. I want to baby-proof everything, but then again... I think that some exploration and experimentation is necessary for their development.
ReplyDeleteI'm about a 5. Stickler on the car seats; but no toilet or oven locks
ReplyDeleteI would say about a 6.
ReplyDeleteI am pregnant now with my first, and at this point I am a 10...I know, I know...that will change. For now I am a 10 and that's all I know.
ReplyDeleteAs a baby-proofer now, I hate to admit that I'm a 3 - my baby-proofing now consists of putting up a baby gate when the grands are here and keeping them in the same room with me :)

ReplyDelete( one nephew is actually a few months and I have a new nephew on the way )
I'd say maybe a 7 or 8. With my daughter, she loves to explore and I have to be prepared for anything! Especially since she is getting bigger now. ReplyDeleteI think I am probably a 7. I really try to keep everything baby proof. My 3 year old is a climber and makes it hard. We now have a 10 week old and I'm going back into baby proof mode. Would love to win. Thanks for the chance. ecghick@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI would say a six in the past for my first three children. Now that I am expecting my fourth child I would like to think I will be at least an eight or nine. I am hoping to keep it as safe as possible. I am already teaching my seven year old ds that he can not leave lego pieces all over the floor!
ReplyDeleteI would say that I am at a six with my little one. We have "most" cabinets locked and all our outlets covered. But, now that she is starting to climb on things...I see that I have a lot of work to do! LOL! m_huston(at)hotmail(dot)com

ReplyDeleteI also have to cat & dogs proof the house too.
