Looking for a gift for that special someone in your life who seems to have everything? How about a book custom made for them? We have fallen for Blurb.com in a big way! If your holiday funds are a little on the lighter side this year (whose aren't?), why not invest a little more human capital to create something truly personal that will last a lifetime? A Blurb book is a fantastic gift that won't break the bank but looks and feels like it should have.
We recently made two photo books on Blurb and it was easy peasy! Just choose your photos and drag and drop them, add your text on the pages that you want "journaling" on, and you have your very own photo book featuring your family in a big way! It is every grandmother's Christmas gift come true! You can see a preview of the book Ali made here - it is a collection of photos from her family's summer vacation.
We also have a clever friend who has written children's books for his children, starring them as the main characters and printed them at Blurb! The options for creativity are endless, but the cost is reasonable and it is a pretty simple process!

I'd love to do a blurb book from my blog...it's the only place I keep track of memories :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to make one for my dad-- he has taken up photography in recent years and does beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on putting together a "life book" for my adopted son right now and I've been checking into all the options of places to make it. This would be great.
ReplyDeleteI would finally put my blog in print for all my little girls (and me) to cherish forever...
ReplyDeleteMy kids had a lot of fun adventures with the grandparents this summer and I'd love to put a book together to give them.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to make a blurb book for my son with pictures of his favorite things this year -- it'll be so hard for me to remember when he asks me about it 20 years from now. :)
ReplyDeleteI would make a book for my daughter of all her family members and how much they love her, especially those that live far away, so they could be 'close' anytime she wanted. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd do a book of pictures of my two month old son for grandma!
ReplyDeleteI would love to make a blurb book with the photos from my sisters recent wedding since her budget friendly wedding didn't include a professional wedding album.

If I were to make a blurb book, I think I would either do one from my adoption blog for my daughter to have as a keepsake of all the many months (almost years) we spent praying for her and thinking of her before her homecoming OR I would make one as a keepsake for the family fostering her now, so that they will always have a special memento of their time with her.
ReplyDeleteI scrap but there are some great pictures from the years before I was scrapping. I would love to get the highlights of our pre-kid travels into a book that we could all keep out and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds awesome...I would make a book for my son's grandmas! They would love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great give-away! I would make a Blurb Book for my Blog. I've done one before when we moved and documented the entire building process. What a neat keepsake. This time I'd do one of my day-to-day blog and who would that be for? My kids - as they will treasure these captured memories down the road!
ReplyDelete2008 marked the beginning of the end of our "20's" for my group of girlfriends. I am one of the last to reach 30 (2 years to go) and JUST yesterday asked them to begin working on some "words of wisdom" and experiences from that decade of their lives. I'm going to compile them into a book along with pictures of all of us. I think it will be a really special way to commemorate that decade of our lives. Thank you for passing on this resource!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! I'm going to make a scrapbook for my parents' christmas gift, having each of my siblings write their favorite family memory, story, etc - this would be great!
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you!

ReplyDeleteWhen I was visiting my parents over the summer, I took pictures of all of my father's pictures dating from when his parents were children through his own childhood. i'd love to win this and make a book for him for christmas. :)
ReplyDeleteNote: I'd also really love to make a blog book. But I found out that Blurb no longer supports blogger. If anyone else knows of a site where I can make a book from my blog, I'd love to know!
ReplyDeleteI would do a blog book for our family to treasure for years to come.
ReplyDeleteI have blurb linked on my blog...so of course I would love to make one from that, but I think I'd like even more to make a story book about our family, how we got to this point - wouldn't it be adorable to have your family 'story' as a story?!?
ReplyDeleteBlurb works in conjunction with the site I use to host my photos (Smug Mug) so I'd love to make a 2008 book. I'm getting very behind in my scrapbooking, and I'm in the market for a new company. So the chance to give Blurb a try for free would be ideal.
ReplyDelete(And I'm so excited for the win! Sending an e-mail right now.)
I like family book with all of our holidays!

ReplyDeleteI want to make a blurb book about 2008 :) I'm also thinking about doing a specific blog for 2009 to make into a blurb book at the end of next year. Such a great site!
ReplyDeleteMy almost 7 year old adaughter is ALWAYS writing and illustrating "books"- I would love to win this and "publish" one of her books for her- it would be a dream come true for her!!
ReplyDeleteI would gather all my photos from this year from all the different events we attended and special moments to put in the book and give it to either my husband from our family or to my mother-in-law ( who lives out of state). What a wonderful sentimental gift!
ReplyDeleteThis fall I celebrated 7 years of marriage and welcomed our 4th child. Over the past 7 years, we've moved over 10 times, including 5 U.S. states and 3 countries. Our pursuit of a calling has been an adventure for us, but a hardship for some very devoted and wonderful grandparents. I'd love to make a book of "grandchildren adventures" for my mom and dad. They would treasure it!
ReplyDeleteOooh, this is great! I'd make one for my parents; a book of their grandchildren. They are obsessed with every detail of their grandkids' lives, but they never get to see them, because everyone lives so far away.
ReplyDeletei stumbled over here through kristin's blog and, even though i'm not a mom, i'd love to make a blurb book of my time in Haiti!
