How's Them Apples?

I love apple slices, and so do my kids, but I have always hated the way the way they turn a mushy brown when I pack them for our lunches. I heard this tip recently, and it keeps sliced apples looking (and tasting) fresh and crisp for several hours. Add a few squirts of lemon or lime juice to a bowl of cool water. Submerge each apple slice in the water for a few seconds, and then remove. Pack, and enjoy!

  1. I'll have to try that. I generally put a spoonful of clear soda in the bag and it does the same thing. But we don't always have clear soda, but always have lemon and lime juice!

  2. I love this idea and cannot wait to try it! Sliced apples are one of my all time favorite snacks and I abhor them turning brown.

    That must be what McDonald's does.
